5 Motivational Quotes From Ryan Reynolds

-By Daryl Remley-

Most people by now have seen Ryan Reynolds’ movies.

He started his career in 1991 by starring in the soap opera Hillside.

He has been in many roles since then and has been the actor who is responsible for making us laugh every line he speaks.

However, most do not know that he is also quite the businessman.

Ryan Reynolds, along with many other actors, has found himself investing in different companies.

He has an ownership stake in the low cost wireless carrier Mint Mobile, and acquired his own alcohol brand Aviation Gin.

You can tell that Ryan Reynolds adds his own humor to the marketing and social media pages for his companies. (P.S. make sure to read the captions in his voice)

Now he may or may not be the person responsible for running the social media, but I am totally reading the captions in his voice.

I think he is doing a great job adding his own personality to these brands and using that humor we all know and love.

Now let’s get to some quotes!

“My career has been an inch at a time.”

This picture is from Ryan Reynolds in Hillside.

Personally, I have never watched it but I am sure at the time, I never would have expected this young boy to grow up and be the actor we know today.

I am also sure that at that moment, he had the ambition to be the person he is today.

To be the person we want to be in the future, we have to be patient and consistent with our work ethic.

A lot of us want things now. We want all the money in the world right now. We want all the answers to our problems right now. We want to be on a nice vacation in Hawaii right now (In all honesty I do wish I was in Hawaii). We wish we were an expert in marketing right now.

But things take time.

I am sure we have heard it before, but they say in order to be an expert in something, we need to practice it for 10,000 hours or 10 years or more.

It takes time to be an expert. It takes time to be really successful.

Success is awarded to those who are patient and know that they will get to where they want to be if they just keep on practicing.

“I think we can all use a little more patience. I get a little impatient sometimes and I wish I didn’t. I really need to be more patient.”

One thing Ryan Reynolds shows here is humility. I talked about the importance of patience above already.

I am sure you get the gist.

But this quote shows that Ryan Reynolds is still working on it.

I am still working on it.

I’ve seen the strong guys lifting crazy weight on social media and hell, I want to look like that too at the moment.

But everything takes time.

We need to understand what we need to work on as well.

Ryan Reynolds shows some self-awareness.

People want to follow people who are aware of the areas they need to work on.

I would not want to follow somebody who acts like they know everything.

I am sure you probably wouldn’t either.

It is hard sometimes to admit that we are wrong, but we all have areas where we can improve, even after we have done those 10,000 hours of practice.

There is always room for improvement.

“Laughing can serve you in dark moments and even help you crawl your way out.”

One thing is for certain. Ryan Reynolds can make people laugh.

Sometimes people take life way too seriously. Life is supposed to be fun.

We need to enjoy it.

We only live once and who wants to spend their whole life without cracking a smile or opening their mouth to let out that special laugh that makes everybody else laugh (Come on, we all know that person who has the laugh that makes us laugh even more than the joke itself).

Life is hilarious. It breaks us down just to build us back up.

Sometimes, when we are down, we just need to laugh at the situation.

Break out a smile. We will get back up. We will be stronger.

We will be able to face anything that is thrown at us.

“I have a discipline that has served me very well in my career and in my personal life… and that’s gotten stronger as I’ve gotten older. I’ve always felt if I don’t just have a natural knack for it, I will just out-discipline the competition if I have to — work harder than anybody else.”

You don’t get to where Ryan Reynolds is without hard work and perseverance.

Life gets really competitive.

Right now I’m applying to internships and what I have learned is how competitive the job market is.

I have had so many rejections thrown my way.

But I can’t dwell on it. I have to move on.

Being sad about every rejection letter means time that I am not looking for the next opportunity.

Forward is the only way we can move.

Sure taking one step back to learn from our mistakes is important, but we use those mistakes to throw us even further ahead.

Don’t spend too much time looking at your competition.

Focus on improving yourself and sooner or later you will find yourself ahead of the competition.

Discipline means working hard consistently everyday.

If you want to become an expert in an area, then read 10,000 hours worth of books that focus on the area that you want to excel at.

If you want to become an expert in that subject in 10 years, if my math is correct, you would have to read about 2.74 hours per day.

That is a lot of hours, but if you really want it, you will do it (After doing that math, I might need to increase the amount of time I read).

“I’m going to admit when I’m clueless, and I’m going to ask people for help when I don’t know the answer to something.”

Again, Ryan Reynolds shows some humility.

In order to keep on living a life full of learning and growth, you need to be able to admit to yourself that you don’t know sometimes.

I’m only in college and I don’t know a lot of things.

I am still figuring out what I am truly passionate about.

That’s okay though.

We are expected to come out of college knowing exactly where we want to be and what we want to do.

We are forced into professions that maybe we weren’t truly passionate about (My grandma wanted me to be a doctor but I am not a huge fan of shots).

My goal is to just take in as much as I can after college and figure out what I am really passionate about.

I know I will figure it out and I will meet some great mentors along the way.

All I know is that I hope to inspire and help as many people as possible.

Whatever that may look like in a job, I am sure I will find it.
